When I was a kid I loved watching The Cosby Show. That's before we knew that the Cos was not such a great guy. Theo was my favorite character and he and his friend Cockroach were always talking about eating something they called the bacon burger dog. It was, presumedly, a hot dog/burger hybrid. But that's only been the stuff of dreams, until now. I often at a cookout get both a hot dog and a burger if I'm really hungry, but it's so inconvenient to eat both separately. At least that's what Australian inventor Mark Murray thought. That's why he patented the Hamdog, a revolutionary hot dog/burger hybrid. He even designed a flying saucer shaped bun to hold it. A wiener lay between a specially made patty and then it is all laid on the special bun. Then you can put whatever topping you want on it. Aussies can now get it at sporting events and at certain supermarkets.
It's time for this culinary gem to come over to America. We may not have invented the hot dog and the burger but we perfected them and this needs to be in my belly immediately. Â
