These days the big Hollywood studios can't get enough of the remakes and reboots. A completely new take on Spider-Man, even though we literally just finished the last take on Spider-Man? Sounds great, go for it. A new Godzilla? Definitely. New Terminators, Fantastic Fours, Fletches, andRoboCops? Damn straight. Reboot all the movies! And hell, you know what? Let's reboot documentary TV shows, too, starting with Cosmos.
Here's an idea, though, borrowed from the music industry. What if, instead of simply remaking movies, Hollywood remixed them? Take the best parts of existing movies, add a new plot and some new characters, and boom you got a whole new flick. That's basically all Flo Rida and Kesha did with "You Spin Me Round" by Dead of Alive, and that effort went triple platinum. Could you imagine a movie that pits Jason Bourne against Darth Vader, John MacLean against the the shark from Jaws, or James Bond against Bane?
That's right, it would be awesome, as this faux trailer for a Bane-007 mashup demonstrates. So come on Hollywood, reboots are so 2010. Remixes are the future, and you need to get on that shit.
