If you were hoping the trend of casting pop stars in movies was possibly going to end in 2006, you're out of luck. FemaleFirst reports that Avril Lavigne has been cast in "Fast Food Nation," the movie based on Eric Schlosser's book of the same name directed by Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, Before Sunrise, School of Rock). Thankfully, Avril's part is probably a small one since it's an ensemble cast featuring such veteran actors as Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, Luis Guzman, Greg Kinnear, Kris Kristofferson, and Wilmer Valderrama.
Avril's acting career doesn't end there, though. She will also appear in "The Flock" opposite Richard Gere and Claire Danes, and provides the voice of an animated possum in "Over the Hedge" from Dreamworks Animation. Lavigne has also signed a contract with the Ford modelling agency last month, according to MacLean's. All I know is, her agent must be really good.
