A funny thing happened on Twitter yesterday. Marvel posited a question to fans, and RDJ butted in with his usual scripted smarm...
So Marvel decided they wanted to push up the release date of Avengers: Infinity War by a week and figured this was the best way to let people know. It obviously worked as everyone is now aware that the war for infinity will begin on April 27, pushing the start of summer* up a week. Marvel and Disney are no longer content to wait until that first weekend in May to make the money and roll the nickels. Black Panther proved that people will come out for a good movie at any time of year.
This obviously gives the film more cushion for the pushin', so to speak, as they'll now have three full weekends before Deadpool 2 comes out and everyone goes, "You know, the guy who played Cable sounded a lot like that giant Joss Whedon/Bruce Willis/microwaved hot dog looking purple people eater Thanos. I wonder if they're brothers."
So yeah, Avengers: Infinity War opens on April 27 now. Sorry to anyone that purchased advance tickets for the Thursday night May 3 shows thinking they'd be the first in the world to see it. Marvel and Disney have just made you guys look like a pack of morons.
