Marvel gains three additions to its Cinematic Universe in 2018, and while there's been a ton of hype surrounding both Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, there's been precious little information of any kind about that third film, Ant-Man and the Wasp. The follow-up to 2015's Ant-Man is set to hit theaters in July, and Marvel's been protecting any and all info on the flick like it's the formula to Coke.
In an interesting break from all the non-information, we have this new still from the film showing Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly suited up as Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne. Thanks to Comic Book Movie, we've also got an official synopsis for the film which makes no mention of the rumored plot to bring Hope's mom Janet back from the Quantum Realm...
From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes “Ant Man and the Wasp,” a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
So yeah, talk about saying nothing over a span of several sentences. Anyone with just a cursory knowledge of the Marvel formula could've guessed virtually every revelation in that synopsis. If nothing else, I'm hoping that just once in this film, Michael Douglas says "Scott" like Liberace. That's all I want. Ant-Man and the Wasp opens on July 7.
