The world didn't need a gender swapped Overboard remake in 2018, yet here we are. I guess if it HAD to happen, they could've done worse than hiring Anna Faris, as she is more or less the heir apparent to Goldie Hawn, much to Kate Hudson's chagrin. They should've kept the genders the same and done it with Pratt before they split. That would've been the move, because if Passengers, Jurassic World, and Guardians of the Galaxy have proved, Pratt has the power to win over women via questionable methods, yet retain the audience's empathy.
Let's be honest, Pratt and Faris were the Kurt and Goldie of their generation, at least in as much as they could easily step into any role that the other has played. Nevertheless, I'm glad to see Anna moving forward, though I wish it were in better films than this, but let's not forget that she started her career in the Scary Movie franchise—and hung around way too long.
Plus, she's clearly very close with her friends as this photo gallery proves. I think she'll land on her feet, and this will make money from people upset that there's nothing but Avengers and foul-mouthed mutants and wookies and dinosaurs in the multiplex.
