Garrett Reid, the 29-year-old son of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid, died yesterday in a dorm room at Lehigh University where the Eagles are holding training camp.
Garrett, the oldest of Reid's sons, was found Sunday morning and pronounced dead by the Northhampton County coroner. Garrett Reid had a history of drug use and arrests. In 2007, Garrett was arrested after a high speed chase and was found to have heroin in his car and more than 200 prescription pills. Later in the same day, Garrett's younger brother Britt was arrested and found to have weapons and drugs in his car.
The Philadelphia Phillies honored Garrett with a moment of silence before their game on Sunday. Andy Reid is expected back with the Eagles this week. The family announced that services will be held tomorrow for Garrett.
