Andrew Bynum is a man-child of a beast. What else do you call a guy that pulls down 30 rebounds in a single game (like a man) and then tarnishes the accomplishment by cursing on live television (like a child)?
Wednesday night the man-child that is Andrew Bynum gave fans everything that they wanted to see against the San Antonio Spurs. The man was a rebounding machine! The last time that a player pulled down 30 or more boards was when Kevin Love accomplished it in 2010 (when he had 31 in a game). You have to go back another decade to find the guy before that.
To make it an even better night for Bynum, he chipped in 16 points on 7 of 20 shooting to help the Lakers beat the Spurs by the score of 98-84. Had he just gone to the locker room once the game was over, writers, analysts, and bloggers everywhere would just be writing about the 30-rebound performance. If that were the case, this wouldn't be the same Andrew Bynum that fans love to hate.
It's been said that Bynum lacks maturity. In his live interview after the game he proved that he is lacking by cursing as if he was on the playground at home talking to his buddies. Thanks to those few choice words when you search on YouTube for a video of Wednesday night's game you'll get more titles referring to the cursing than you do the rebounds.
Andrew Bynum can sure play like a mad. Now if only he'd quite acting like a child.
