Thinking of school brings back memories of times spent with friends--not in classes, but at detentions. Ahh, those were the days... That's probably the reason why most of my detention buddies and I are clueless when it comes to all that useless trivia lessons that science teachers tried to cram down our throats then.
I think more should be required of teachers, aside from a degree and a license. In fact, they should come prepared with a bunch of techniques that would make kids actually want to learn stuff, like Dr. Byron Beekle.
Instead of using just mere words, Dr. Beekle took it upon himself to create hilarious illustrations depicting fact (and sometimes, lies and stories) about random ocean factoids and tidbits. You can check these out in the gallery above.
The catch is... It's all park of an April Fools' Day prank that National Geographic pulled. Dr. Beekle is also non-existent, as he turns out to be artist Rob DenBleyker, who's behind the hilarious Cyanide and Happiness comic strip. Nonetheless, I stand by my opinion that all teachers (and maybe even parents) can learn a thing or two from Dr. Beekle.
