I have to say, when I first heard that Alicia Vikander was cast in the role of Lara Croft I was skeptical. And now that I have seen the trailer and all the promo material, I am man enough to admit that I was right all along. I simply cannot see her as an action hero. Her legs are not thick enough, and her boobs are not pointy enough to live up to the memory of the original.
Maybe I am just nostalgic for the Angelina Jolie incarnation of the character. It was a tad more curvy, but my adolescent-self had enough hormones raging at the time that it was easy for me to overlook the inaccuracy. That woman really set a high bar for any following actresses to climb over. Sure, Alicia’s good looks have gotten her this far, I am just unconvinced that they will be able to get her through a feature length film of tomb raiding.
I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, and even I do not know if I could raid tombs for one hour and fifty-eight minutes. That is almost one hour and forty-eight minutes longer than I have ever ran.
