Road House is the latest classic film that's getting the remake treatment. Rob Cohen, the director of the original The Fast and the Furious, is slated to direct the tale of the best cooler in the business. Anyone who has spent a lazy Sunday afternoon watching TBS has seen the Patrick Swayze classic. Road House tells the story of a philosophically inclined bouncer who cleans up an ice house and then a town with a combination of Zen and ass-kicking. No news yet on who will fill Swayze's tight jeans. I'm not sure why, of all films, Hollywood would remake Road House. It's not a particularly good movie. In fact, it's pretty friggin' bad. The only reason I referred to it as a classic is because it has joined the pantheon of terrible cult favorites along with other Swayze masterpieces like Point Break. First, the film industry remakes good movies like Carrie. Now they are scraping the bottom of the barrel. What's next? Biodome? Solarbabies?
