Under the category of slogans not to use for your college football program while four players are under indictment for raping an unconscious co-ed at a party, file We Don't Need Your Permission. Perhaps doubly so when you are Vanderbilt in the SEC and you kind of do need everybody else's permission to get a couple wins each season. The tweeted slogan lived on the Vandy site for a few hours before somebody in the front office who had attended the mandated seminars remembered, hey, isn't this kind of rapey? The University and Vandy Football quickly clarified their sentiment:
We apologize for today's tweet. It's not a comment about sexual assault. Sex without permission is always wrong and not accepted. Sexual assault is not acceptable at Vanderbilt University, Vanderbilt Athletics and Vanderbilt Football.
It's a strong stand, but one that had to be taken. You're not getting the top high school recruits if you don't allow a little sexual assault, but move that shit off campus, fellas. And Jaborian McKenzie who claims he only took pictures of the assault and nothing more, your rape game needs work, son. Rivals needs to add a new star category for keeps his mouth shut. Turn your eyes South to Alabama to see how the grist mill runs smoothly.
