Twitter is up in arms after Rebel Wilson claimed, during an appearance on Ellen, to be the first ever plus-sized actress in a romantic comedy. How dare she. Hasn't she seen any Drew Barrymore movies? Wilson was pimping her upcoming movie Isn't It Romantic, which is like Amy Schumer's I feel Pretty, with the main difference being that there's still a chance someone will see Isn't It Romantic. Wilson's bitter, jaded workaholic character hits her head, and wakes up to find a colorful, cheery world in which everything is perfect. I think she also fucks Liam Hemsworth. Wilson declared while chatting it up with Ellen:

I'm kind of proud to be the first-ever plus-sized girl to be the star of a romantic comedy.

The statement hits me as pretty innocuous, but apparently everyone out there is vying for the coveted title of being the first ever overweight female lead in a romantic comedy. Dreams. They come true. Twitter users pointed to a number of actresses overlooked by Wilson, including, first and foremost, Queen Latifah, who appeared in the 2006 cinema classic Last Holiday. One twatter twatted in response to Wilson's comment "Queen Latifah begs to differ." Vogue even went so far as to say that Wilson is "erasing black people" by omitting the numerous artistic contributions of Queen Latifah.

As per usual, it's up to my Spotlight-worthy blogging to remind people of the facts. Rebel Wilson is a pathological liar, and even went to court over discrepancies in her actual age, name origin, and relationship to Walt Disney. We can trust what she has to say as much as we can stand to listen to it.

But that's not today's takeaway. Wilson might not be the first, but she's still a plus-sized woman carving out a career in Bulimia La La Land. Instead of simply correcting Wilson, and maybe sharing a femi-fun teachable moment, women online are dragging her name through the goddamn mud. You'd really have to hate a woman to extrapolate racism from "I'm kind of proud to be the first-ever plus-sized girl to be the star of a romantic comedy." The liberal media despises the idea of pitting women against each other. And now I see why. Why pit them against each other when they take care of it themselves?
