CELEBRITIES

Bygones are no longer bygones. MeToo has turned into one big angry bitch with an affinity for bringing up old offenses to argue her point. I’m still willing to point out that are more important things to ponder over than the cheeky jests of one Gordon Ramsey. Like why does every 600 pound person on TLC always have a significant other while you’re still single. But here we are. 2019. Ready to wreck another career after “outrage” from a televised interview from 2010. Is it me or is MeToo a movement of women with nothing better to do than go through their forgotten TiVo shows in search of justice? Did you forget to be outraged in 2010? You know, when the oh so egregious offense actually took place.
The internet is “uncomfortable” and “disappointed” with chef Gordon Ramsay after a 2010 interview with Sofía Vergara, on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” resurfaced this week.
“Did I scare you guys?” the “Modern Family” star asks Ramsay and Leno of her screaming in a previous skit on the show that night. “I never scream like that in real life. It was all acting.”
Ramsay, 52, replies, touching her arm, “Only in the bedroom?” Vergara, 46, doesn’t respond, just makes a face before Leno defuses the comment with, “You would never know.”
Leno goes on to talk to Vergara about her then-recent trip to Italy and Greece, showing a photo of Vergara and a friend in bikinis. The photo quickly switched to one of the actress eating pizza.
The talk show host tells the producers to go back to the bikini pic, commenting, “Think we have a female director? Duh!”
When they went back to the photo of Vergara eating pizza, Ramsay comments, “You seem like you’re enjoying that. You had a whole wedge in your mouth at one time?” Vergara looks frustrated with the sexual innuendo.
Later in the clip, Vergara shares a Colombian dessert she brought with her on the show, which Ramsay quickly tells her tastes like “s–t fudge.” The pair goes back and forth commenting about food before Ramsay hits the side of her thigh.
“No, no touching!” she yells at him, hitting him on the arm.
I’m not throwing on a cape to defend Gordon’s behavior but the outrage army only cares because Sofia Vergara fits the “pretty woman in distress” narrative. Had this been Ramsey treating Tess Hamday like the piece of fatty tattooed pork she is, no one would have cared. The same goes for women that are unanimously agreed upon as unattractive. Lena Dunham is in someone’s kitchen right now going through the cupboards and covering herself in white truffle oil praying that someone pays attention to her. A woman like Dunham could spray whip cream and squeeze chocolate syrup all over her body until her wrists hurt and even the original culinary Mr. MeToo Mario Batali would tell her to clean herself up and leave immediately. So be honest, outrage army. Do you care because celebrity chefs should truly keep their hands off when the thighs aren’t attached to poultry? Or it took a full eight years to get offended by that episode of Jay Leno because it came on after everyone’s bedtime?
Look at how Gordon Ramsey tests her boundaries. This is grooming. This is the behaviour of a predator. Show your daughters what it looks like. https://t.co/vXjviWXdha

@GordonRamsay you treated Sofia Vergara with utter disrespect. You sexually harassed her to the point where you actually touched her. She was making her disdain for you obvious. What the fuck is wrong with you? Never watching anything you do again.
