All of the buzz around town points to the upcoming animated adventure Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse being not only one of the best animated films of the year, but also one of the best—if not the best—Spider-Man movies ever made. And not to hype it up too much, but apparently the post-credits sequence is among the best from any Marvel movie ever made.
All of this hyperbole might seem unwarranted for an animated Spider-Man film that's not in any canon whatsoever, but this comes from the minds of Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The dynamic duo fired off of Solo: A Star Wars Story has delivered a ton of quality entertainment in the last decade from the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movies to the 21 Jump Street series and of course, The LEGO Movie. Seriously, they're responsible for making Channing Tatum likable, there's very little they can't do.
Which brings us back to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. That end credits stinger reeks of their contribution, as does the involvement of Nic Cage's Spider-Man Noir and Peter Porker, aka Spider-Ham, voiced in the film by the brilliantly funny John Mulaney. Couple all of this with a gorgeous looking animation style, and I'm all in for this one.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters one week from Friday, opposite Mortal Engines and The Mule.
