Inarguably the weakest of the four solo Marvel series on Netflix, Iron Fist has been officially put to bed by the streaming service, with no plans to revive the character in its current form. According to Deadline, the show won't be getting a third season, despite the second season being a marked improvement over the awful first season.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix,” said the Disney-owned comic giant and the streamer in a joint statement to Deadline today. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners,” Marvel and Netflix added. “We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

This had to happen eventually, as the show clearly didn't live up to whatever metrics Netflix uses to determine success. Rumors are swirling that the cancellation may make room for the character to jump over to Disney Play—Disney's new streaming service launching next year—though Netflix has no plans to give up the rights to Jessica Jones, Daredevil, or Luke Cage.

Would you want to see Iron Fist live again in this iteration sans the other Defenders or would you rather they just closed this chapter on the character and moved on? Let us know in the comments section below.
