TV & FILM

While not the whiz-bang thrill-a-minute flick Steven Spielberg would've delivered in his heyday, Ready Player One was an above average film with lots of cool effects. Now that the film is getting ready to be released on home video, we're getting some hints of behind the scenes footage like this short video that shows how the virtual world of the OASIS was filmed.
Coming to us courtesy of Collider, this video features many of the film's stars talking about the process of filming the 60% of the film that takes place in the OASIS. It's a fun bit of behind the scenes trivia that shows off just how much work had to go into the creation of this world on film. What I didn't realize prior to this is that all of the OASIS scenes were filmed first, presumably to give the effects team plenty of lead time to finish more than half of the film.
If nothing else, it's a great chance to see my boo Ben Mendelsohn give his opinion on how this thing went down. Honestly, any time we can spend with Ben Mendelsohn is time well spent. Ready Player One is set to release on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and 4K Blu-ray on July 24.
