Of all the various comic book movies that have never been made, the one most of us wish had actually happened has got to be Tim Burton's Superman Lives starring Nicolas Cage as the Man of Tomorrow. More than likely, it wouldn't have been a good movie, but the thought of a late 90s Nic Cage—in full-on Face/Off unhinged mode—playing Superman is enough to make a bad movie connoisseur weep at what could've been.
Well, wonder no more what Nicolas Cage would have done had he gotten the chance to play Superman and get ready for this summer's Teen Titans GO! to the Movies, as the Oscar winner will be voicing the last son of Krypton. According to USA Today, Cage will lend his unique talents to the film set to hit theaters this coming July. It's a bittersweet bit of wish fulfillment for those of us who want to live in an alternate universe where Cage went on to play Supes in a whole series of films.
I must now caution you to temper your excitement as this will likely be a glorified cameo. The big deal DC characters show up from time to time on Teen Titans GO! but never hang out for very long, but honestly, I'm just excited that Nicolas Cage is finally getting to fulfill his—and our—greatest wish.
