It’s the Debut Trailer for ‘Black Dynamite’ “Sequel” ‘The Outlaw Johnny Black’ (VIDEO)

Next to Step Brothers, I think that 2009's Black Dynamite is the greatest comedy of the new millennium, and yeah, you and I can fight about it if you want. The film is an impeccably crafted homage to the cheapest of the cheap Blaxploitation films of the 70s, with a heavy debt to Rudy Ray Moore's Dolemite series. Rather than returning to that well for a sequel, however, co-writers and stars Michael Jai White and Byron Minns are taking things in a new direction with their follow-up film, The Outlaw Johnny Black.

Taking more than a few cues from Sidney Poitier's classic Buck and the Preacher, The Outlaw Johnny Black is a western featuring the same fictional cast that made Black Dynamite. The debut trailer for the film can be seen above, and fans will be happy to know that the film, like Black Dynamite before it, is being filmed in Cinemaphonic Quadrovision! And none of this is to mention that the main antagonist is being played by John Kreese himself, Martin Kove.

Now for the bad news. The film is not guaranteed to get made. This is basically a proof of concept trailer featuring a lot of footage from other cheapo westerns of the 60s and 70s. The good news, however, is that there's an Indiegogo campaign to get the flick made. $40 gets you a Blu-ray of the finished film, and though there are other tiers, this is the one I'm opting for.
