Jack Black and Tim Robbins have signed on for a new HBO series titled The Brink. The show is reportedly a dark comedy surrounding a "massive geopolitical crisis" and the varying reactions from each of the show's major characters.
Tim Robins will play Walter Hollander, the U.S. secretary of state, while Jack Black will take on the role of Alex Coppins, a foreign service officer. The two must deal with the chaos unfolding around them in order to prevent World War III, which I think might have something to do with why the show is titled The Brink. But I'm just spit-balling, here, so don't quote me on that.
Executive producer Jerry Weintraub has written the pilot, and executive producer Jay Roach is set to direct. Roach also directed HBO's Game Change, which was a critical success garnering five Emmys, including a Best Director Emmy for Roach himself.
