The reason why I can't gamble is I have this thing for underdogs. I want to see the upset. I want to see the guy that is supposed to win lose. Nothing makes me happier (that's not true; beer, steak, beer, hot wings, beer, pizza....nachos with beer...).
Maybe its the eternal optimist in me; the guy that truly believes that any team can win on any given Saturday. Maybe that's why I'm picking Texas Tech to upset Kansas State this week.
Yeah, I know Colin Klein looks unbeatable right now. The seven touchdowns he scored on West Virginia definitely help perpetuate that belief. However, that also was the thought about Geno Smith and West Virginia before those pesky Red Raiders from Texas Tech took them down.
Texas Tech has a guy that should be in Heisman conversations as well, senior quarterback Seth Doege. So far he has thrown for over 300 yards in all but two games, completed at least 61 percent of his passes in every game and thrown for 28 TDs next to seven interceptions for a ratio of 4 to 1 (not bad).
Against Kansas State, Doege and the Red Raiders will not be going up against a weak defense like WVU's. The Wildcats are pretty tough against the rush, but not so much against the pass. Texas Tech's defense is no laughing matter either and is currently the best in the Big 12.
Texas Tech/ K-State is not the only excellent match-up this weekend. Let the college cheerleaders be your guides through this week's other fantastic matchups.
