Michael Garcia - August 8, 2012

HBO's Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Miami Dolphins premiered last night and did not disappoint. The best reality show on television had all the elements of a good drama. Chad Johnson was back to his old self after explaining to the media that what he learned in his one year in New England was to 'shut the f**k up.' Thankfully he's not abiding by that theory now.

The three way battle for the starting quarterback position took center stage, with last year's starter Matt Moore, veteran DavidGarrard, who is new to Miami and number one draft pick Ryan Tannehill are all working to be the main man. Tannehill missed the first three days of camp while he contract was being figured out, but we did get introduced to his smoking hot wife, Lauren.

There was a surprise in that rookie tight end Les Brown, who spent the last two years in finance after playing basketball in college, might have a better looking wife than Tannehill. I guess it depends on whether you prefer blondes or brunettes. Brown is a long shot to make the team, but it looks like he'll be around for at least one more week.

The star of the first episode though was Chad (formerly Ochocinco) Johnson, hands down. His mouth was constantly running on and off the field. We find out that Chad knew he had found the woman to marry when he paused Call of Duty for her. We also find out that last year with the Patriots, Chad wasn't getting any sex as long as he played bad, but that when he scored on the field he scored at home.

Chad also had a pretty competitive night of FIFA '13 in the hotel with Reggie Bush, who was barely in the first episode but looks to be featured in week two.

At the end of the episode, new head coach Joe Philbin joins a QB meeting to let the guys know that for the first week, Garrard has been put at number one on the depth chart, but that the competition is still wide open. During the team's first scrimmage, the fans were chanting for Tannehill, leading to Garrard calling the rookie 'People's Choice' but all that matters is the coaches choice, which for now is the former Jaguar, Garrard.

Episode two is next Tuesday, while the Dolphins first preseason game is Friday night at home when they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Here are the three QBs talking about the competition in a clip that didn't air on the show.
