For the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, Sean Payton, it could not get much worse than it already is. From here on out he will no longer be thought of as the football genius that he is. Thanks to the ongoing bounty scandal people will remember his role in it and forget that he's won a Super Bowl.
Faced with the prospect of watching his team struggle and his star QB becoming disgruntled in his abscence will make every day painful as he is forced to watch from home or the stands like everyone else. At least he has his loving family to help get him through these trying times.
Oh wait--no he doesn't. Earlier this week the news broke that Payton and his wife of almost 20 years, Beth, have filed for divorce. I could quote you the legal-ease version of Payton's petition, but the human translation is that the duo have grown apart and simply don't like to live with each other anymore.
From the sound of his soon to be ex-wife's petition the split may not be too amicable though (either that or Sean is an absentee Dad). She has filed to make Tarrant County, Texas, their home and wants to have sole control over their education, medical, and legal affairs.
Sure would be nice to have practice to take his mind of off things (oh well); and so concludes Sean Payton's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
