If you're sleepy, you want pizza. At least that's what science says. An experiment conducted at the New York Obesity Research Center, (also known as the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut), showed that sleep deprived people crave junk food. Researcher Marie-Pierre St-Onge, (think she's French?), had 25 participants spend 5 nights at the lab. She kept some of them up and had others sleep nine hours. Then they hooked them up to brain reading machines, (technical term), and showed them pictures of food. People who slept less responded more to pictures of pizza and doughnuts than photos of vegetables and hairy vegans and whatnot. First of all, who wants to look at a picture of celery? I'd definitely respond more to a sausage and peperoni pie and I get lots of sleep. Could it be that I crave it because I'm a fat bastard that loves pizza? Why don't you do something useful science?
Luckily, they have! A Dutch company called A1 has invented a pizza vending machine that's coming to the States soon. It's been around in Europe for a while, but let's face it, they needed to bring that thing to the land of stuffed crust and dipping sauce. The machine makes you a pizza using infrared technology in just 3 minutes. Think of it: hordes of good old American fatties not having to wait the 30 minutes for the pizza to come. That shaves 27 minutes out of their day that they can do something else like exercise or watch The Price is Right. That's 189 minutes a week, 756 minutes a month, 9,702 minutes a year. America could once again become the only superpower in the world if our pizza consumption could be expedited. Maybe A1 could come up with a pizza shake that you can drink on the go? Thanks science!
