Well well well then, who saw this coming? Definitely not almost all of the English media that's for damn sure. The English Football Association have decided to appoint West Bromich Albion manager, Roy Hodgson as the new manager to the England national football team instead of the firm favourite Harry Redknapp.

Hodgson is a surprising yet appropriate choice for the position having previously managed in international football with UAE, Finland and Switzerland but it will be an arduous task for him to win over the plethora of players and fans who expected Redknapp to take the position.

The F.A seem to have decided that Hodgson's international experience is what has set him apart from the other candidates and he'll take up the position after W.B.A's last two fixtures.

For many though Redknapp seemed like the correct choice however ever since Fabio Capello's resignation in the middle of February his Tottenham side has steadily declined and now sit one point off of third place having only won 4 games out of their previous 16 attempts.

Good luck to Roy though. He deserves his opportunity and he'll need all of his guile and expertise to unite a warring squad of over hyped players for the Euro 2012 championships which are less than 2 months away.
