What is the greatest movie franchise of the last 20 years? No, it's not Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings. It's SyFy's amazing Sharknado series. The first two films broke every taboo and redefined film forever. The story, like all good tales, is pretty simple. A former surfer played by Ian Ziering and his estranged wife Tara Reid have to defeat a weather anomaly in which tornadoes pick up and hurl sharks at people. It could happen. I just watched Sharknado 2 the other day at an outdoor screening in Brooklyn Bridge Park. It was glorious.
Tonight, the epic trilogy comes to an end with Sharknado 3: Oh, Hell No premieres on SyFy at 9pm EST. Will it live up to the other two? The plot involves a massive storm that goes all the way from Florida to Washington D.C. It's like a super sharknado. It also has cameos by David Hasselhoff, Mark Cuban, and (inexplicably) Ann Coulter. If Ann Coulter is eaten by a shark, isn't that worth a watch? I know where I'll be.
