The highly anticipated second season of HBO's True Detective premiered on Sunday night. I didn't watch it, because I don't have HBO, and I'd just assume binge-watch the entire thing over two nights several months down the road. However, if Twitter is to be believed—and it is, because Twitter is always right—season 2 kicked off with a thud. Which is to say the 140-character reviews were mostly negative.
Of course, this sort of reaction was to be expected. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are gone, and Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch have taken their place. Season 2 is basically a brand new show. It's going to take time for fans to adjust.
Unfortunately, this fact caught some fans by surprise...
But hey, not everybody hated the True Detective Season 2 premier. At least one guy didn't not like it...
And at least one other guy (TCM's Ben Mankiewicz) actually liked it liked it...
Though the guy who disagreed with everyone else on Twitter is obviously a weirdo, as are all people who don't conform to the popular opinion.
