When it comes to video game adaptations, Hollywood has really dropped the ball, creating numerous movies that we'd all like to wash from our memory. Despite this, New Regency and Ubisoft are moving forward with their highly-anticipated upcoming film, Assassin's Creed, the story of a bartender who learns he's a descendant in a long line of expert assassins.
Actor Michael Fassbender has been attached to the film as the title character, bringing with him much excitement, and earlier this week it was announced that Michael Lesslie would be the writer. If you don't know Lesslie, that's okay, nobody does. And that's because he's only written plays and short films. Although this is a bold hire for such a film, it should be noted that there has yet to be a solid video game adaptation penned by a working screenwriter. So maybe this is exactly the kind of move the film needs.
