Is Disney Going To Make Han Solo: The Movie? And Will it Involve Scruffy-Looking Nerf Herders?

Could one of the new stand alone Star Wars film be a movie about Han Solo? That's the latest rumor swirling around the geekverse. We reported a couple of days ago that Harry Knowles of Ain't it Cool News reported that his sources say that one of the stand alone Star Wars titles will follow the adventures of everyone's favorite green rubber Muppet, Yoda. Disney chairman Bob Iger confirmed that the company is developing several Star Wars films apart from the new episodes VII, VIII, IX trilogy. Iger also said that Lawrence Kasdan, the guy who wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, is penning one of these non-trilogy films.

If there is a Han Solo movie, the speculation is that it would take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope when Solo was just a young scoundrel. Hopefully they won't make him a kid, because honestly did anyone really want to see little boy Darth Vader? No. A fairly well known backstory not mentioned in the films is that the reason Chewbacca follows Han around like a giant arm-ripping dog is that a young Solo saved him from slavery and death at the hands of the Empire.

Chewie then swears a life oath to protect Han and the greatest rogue/giant bear-dog bromance in history was born. Then the two of them can win the Millennium Falcon from Lando in a card game. That would make a pretty epic movie.

Oh, and there might also be a Boba Fett movie. Boba Fett, people.
