In a recent study conducted by Middlesex (tee hee) University in the UK, they discovered that 1 out of 5 people would do the nasty with a robot. 2000 participants were asked if given the chance would they knock boots with a droid. The people surveyed also thought that robots were going to one day get too powerful and take over. While this part is totally true, (be nice to your computer because one day it will be your master), the sex thing is a surprise. One respondent said,
"It seems to have got to the stage where people would rather have sex with something that knows exactly what it's doing, where we know exactly how it will react, and how long it will take, and how good it will be."
It makes sense if you think about it. In our age of on-demand self-controlled entertainment, sex is a bit of an anachronism. After all, you have to deal with other people's feelings and try to satisfy them and all that. But a robot that's programmed to do exactly what you like and requires no work other than cleaning is appealing to people. It eliminates all of that boring human interaction stuff. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Robots scare me because I know that one day they are going to rise up and kill us all. What if the singularity happens when you are in the middle of gettin' yo freak on? One kegel squeeze from the robot and you'll be singing soprano.
