The LEGO Movie doesn't open until Friday (Thursday night in some locations), but that has't stopped Warner Bros. from moving ahead with a sequel and hiring Jared Stern to write the script.

Stern who has written such films as The Internship and The Watch is also credited with "adding story materials" for Wreck-It Ralph and Bolt, according to Coming Soon. As such, he's no stranger to animated films.

The LEGO movie tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary LEGO figure who is mistaken for the savior of the LEGO world. No word yet on whether Emmet will return as the star of the squeal. I suppose it's possible they kill him off in the first film, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
