In sales terms, PS4 has got itself a nice little lead over Xbox One. Fancy-ass nerdly analysts will attribute this to all kinds of factors, like global tastes, game libraries, consumer mistrust following dodgy launches and that sort of BS. All of which, true enough, played a part.
But let's not lose sight of the real reason here: Sony's secret weapon. They've got the motherfreakin' Dark Lord of the Sith on their side.
Would you eff with Darth Vader? No, no you wouldn't. The guy can crush your trachea from across the room just by doing a little pinchy motion with his fingers, and I for one want no part in that kind of voodoo. So when he tells you The Force is Strong With PlayStation, you don't argue. You take him at his word, and bust out a Vader-themed PS4 in his honor.
We've seen said console, and pretty damn badass it is too. Regardless of the height of Star Wars hype just now, though, you don't –collectors aside-- want to be buying a second PS4 just because ol' Darth's face is on the front of this one. So how about something a little more practical, a little less check-me-out-with-my-disposable-income?
Take an ogle at the Darth-tastic Dual Shock 4 controller, available as a standalone buy later this month. My OCD is very upset by that uneven color business with the buttons, but whatever.
