Siblings, huh? The rivalries, the noogies, the wedgies, the those-aren’t-my-Playboys-pa-they’re-Paul’s lies, the Machiavellian mind games, the he-started-its, the saran wrap left of the toilet seat so the piss goes everywhere… it’s a minefield.
You don’t ever ask for a brother or sister (neither do ma and pa, some of the time). They’re just dumped on you one day, if they’re younger, or they’re already there, staring at you with an I’ll snap your neck like a chicken’s while you sleep because you’re stealing mom’s attention from me sort of look on their face the moment you’re born.
Still, there are upsides to having siblings. Sometimes, they aren’t assholes. And second, they’re handy video game buddies. I remember getting my game on with my big sister, a little friendly rivalry over Crash Team Racing (we were uncontrollable badass renegades with no effs to give, and far too edgy and hipster for Mario Kart). That’s still one of my favorite games, and the nostalgia-tastic memories are most of the reason why.
Good ol’ wholesome childhood memories are made of this stuff. Zachary Antell knows that darn well, as you’ll see from his animated short Player Two. This lil’ movie will warm the iciest, steeliest heart; because you always want to be sucker punched straight in the feels on a Friday morning. Check it out.
