New Independence Day: Resurgence Clip Is Ominous

In anticipation of the upcoming release of Independence Day: Resurgence, I watched the original Independence Day. It still holds up as a pretty darn good disaster/alien flick. It's fun, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and the action is non-stop. I totally believe that all you need to stop an alien invasion is Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith in a stolen alien spacecraft. Like all sequels made years after the original I'm, of course, worried that Resurgence is going to be a piece of crap. My biggest fear is that like most sci-fi or comic books movies nowadays it's taking itself way too seriously. This clip is certainly pretty darn serious. Apparently, people have been seeing visions ever since the aliens showed up 20 years before. It's up to Jeff to figure out what it all means before it's too late.

I'm holding my judgement until I see the movie, of course. I wonder if Roland Emmerich can catch lightning in a bottle twice?
