Suicide Squad will be getting the standard PG-13 rating for a dark superhero movie. There was speculation given the content of the movie and the success of Deadpool as an R-rated superhero movie that DC would follow suit. But it makes sense that DC would be to cowardly to take that risk. I understand the desire to capture the biggest audience possible but I guarantee you that an R-rating is not going to keep the 13-17 year old crowd from seeing it. They'll just come with their parents or get a homeless dude to buy their tickets. Marvel is so ahead of the game over DC that it's not even funny anymore. How could one company get it so right and the other screw the pooch so terribly? I'm not saying that Suicide Squad won't be good with a PG-13 rating, I'm just saying that they will have to be more restrained than they could have been.
Sometimes restraint is a good thing and other times it just shows lack of balls.
