When ‘Doom’ Met ‘Pokemon’

Doom, as we know, has always been a goretastic, leaving-your-foes-bleeding-in-a-sad-puddle-of-blood-and-broken-defeat-on-the-floor sort of deal. That’s kind of the whole USP, right there. The shooters that followed weren’t really big on that, but Doom fans know what’s up. That explains Brutal Doom, the vicious new melee attacks in the reboot and all of that good stuff.

Ultra violence isn’t for everyone, though. Little Jimmy would shit his pants if he saw the spine-rippin’ fatalities of Mortal Kombat, or the BFG crushing the demon hordes to a splattering mess. For these delicate young souls, we have Nintendo’s beloved Pokémon franchise.

In this cutesy-ass cartoon world, the fighters keep all their limbs. They aren’t killed, they just ‘faint.’ There are no internal organs to clean up afterwards. In short, it’s for wusses.

In Bizarro World, at least, this makes it a perfect candidate for a darn good Doom-ing. And so, Ego-gents, I present to you… A Pokémon Doom mod. This replaces the game’s enemies with old Pikachu, Diglett and Charmander sprites (among others), the most adorable little horde you’ve ever been eviscerated by.

If ‘FPS recreation of Pallet Town’ means anything to you, I’m pretty sure you’ll dig this. Give it an ogle below, courtesy of IGN.
