When I first saw Prometheus, I friggin' hated it. I wanted to punch that movie in the throat. But on subsequent viewings, it's grown on me. Sure, it's no Alien or Aliens but it doesn't pretend to be. That's our own prejudices getting in the way. It's not a perfect movie, parts of it are kind of goofy, but all in all it's pretty good. Now we're getting a sequel in Alien: Covenant in exactly one year. The filmmakers give us this very quick sneak peek of a woman, Katherine Waterston, in cryo-sleep. So, it's like she's waiting like we are waiting. Meta. I think Ridley Scott heard the fans loud and clear about what they want, namely a clearer connection with the Alien franchise, hence the name of the film having been changed from Prometheus 2 to Alien: Covenant.
Will it be good? Will I have to watch it 4 times before I like it as I did with Prometheus? Who knows. We'll have to wait a year to find out.
