Here it comes, friends. We’re not effing around anymore. When mere trailers become ‘launch trailers,’ it’s time to get to goddamn business.

Microsoft have been hyping Gears of War 4 up for some time now. It’s the biggest game to hit Xbox One in forever, although it’s hardly been an exclusives-out-the-wazzoo sort of year. We’ve seen the spangly new horde mode, overhauled with character classes and all that sort of thing. We’ve seen teaser videos and guides to the new mechanics and other stuff besides.

We see where you’re going with this, The Coalition. We’ve seen all we need to see. It’s time to start damn playing already. Except, y'know, we can’t, because we’re still a couple weeks away from the game’s October 11 release. So what do we do until then? We check out this last trailer, that’s what we do.

Gears 4 kicks off a quarter of a century after Marcus Fenix and his studly buddies saved the world. All was peaceful for a while, until a fresh horde of nasties emerged and started chewing on our faces. At which point, Marcus is too old to even raise an erection, let alone a Gnasher or Lancer. This title, then, is the story of the new generation: Fenix and Anya’s son J.D, Del and Kait.

Take a look at what they’ve got to deal with in this dramatastic new clip:
