You can just smell it. Down at Kimye headquarters, at this very moment, Yeezus is begging Kim for some extra pocket money to get in on this. It’s the blingiest slice of bling that was ever blinged out, and no half-assed rapper should be without it.

As you may know, 2016 marks the milestone anniversaries of a couple different gaming series. Resident Evil, Pokémon, Sonic the Hedgehog… it’s a hell of a year for the nostalgic ol’ bastards among us. All of them are marking the occasion in their own special way. A craptastic way, in Resident Evil’s case (what the hell was Umbrella Corps?), but unique nonetheless.

Now, though, the crazy cookie has been taken. Meet the solid gold Pikachu card, in honor of twenty years of the trading card game.

I’d just started high school when the Pokémon shitstorm hit the world, and remember the TCG well. In those days, there were horror stories of twelve-year-olds shanking each other at recess over the fabled Charizard card. It was a ridiculous time. Schools all over the West were banning the game, which, natch, only made it even more popular. We were like preteen World War Two black market smugglers.

And I’ll tell you something else. If I’d seen this 216,000 yen ($2000) collaboration between Nintendo and Japanese jeweller Ginza Tanaka back then, I’d have shat the oversized pants mom promised I would grow into.
