TV & FILM

When the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi dropped on Friday, we all took the weekend off to talk about how great it looked and how excited we were for the film. One YouTuber was not as impressed as the rest of us, however, and created this video which shows that almost every shot in Friday's trailer apes a shot from 2015's The Force Awakens.
While it's not completely unexpected considering that George Lucas' theory of Star Wars is that everything rhymes, it's somewhat disheartening to see every single shot in that trailer having a counterpart in the last film. Sure, some of them are a stretch, but others are spot-on. I'm not sounding the alarm bell just yet, or anything, but part of me hopes that the next trailer for the film gives us a few more story details and we begin to move away from TFA.
I suppose you can't please everybody and one man's The Force Awakens is another man's The Phantom Menace, so this may all be a gross overreaction to our first official footage from the film. Or the sky really is falling this time and we need to run for cover quickly. Either way, we'll all find out the truth on December 15.
