The trouble that many young athletes face is learning how to control the chaos that too often rages around them now that they are flush with cash. One would have hoped that San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith would have learned to cool it after his DUI last January. Obviously that has not been the case.
When the mess that was his house party was finally over Saturday night/Sunday morning Smith was probably wishing that the roof was on fire and that he'd let the mother ****** burn. It has be better than being stabbed.
Instead of going out to party and risk driving under the influence why not have the party yourself? You have the funds to host it and the home to have it in now that you are a professional football player after all. If you are not driving you can't get a DUI, you can't get in trouble, and the media will not make fun of you.
True, but you can get stabbed when someone says the wrong thing to someone else, and all he** breaks loose.
There is no telling how it happened (since no one is talking), but at some time during the night guns were pulled, shots were fired, and Smith was stabbed in the shoulder and abdomen with a small pocket knife (as quick as he is on the field he couldn't dodge a drunk with a knife?).
The word so far is that the injuries are relatively minor, and Smith will be fine. However, this could be a sign of future trouble if Smith doesn't get it together off the field. Rumor has it that he likes to frequent house parties like this with 100+ people and where drugs and guns are common. If he's not careful, the wounds might not be minor next time.
(Watch Smith make one of 14 sacks along with a rather unique celebration.)
