Keanu has mad martial arts skills. Or at least his characters do. Or maybe he does, too. Who gives a crap? Either way, it looks like there's some samurai shit happening in 47 Ronin and I'm moderately stoked. Moderately moderately. And 'stoked' is such a strong word. Uh, maybe 'not-uninterested' is the proper term.
Look, I understand that there are about 748,000 reasons not to be stoked about 47 Ronin. Chief among them is Keanu Reeves himself. It really has been quite a while since he's done anything worth caring about.
But, we've got to soldier on sometimes when samurai and Pacific Rim's Rinko Kikuchi are involved, mainly because there's chance that seeing half a dozen badass big-budget samurai battles might might just be worth the price of a ticket. The Matrix it won't be. It probably won't even be Speed. But, y'know, it comes out around Christmas...and it's cold and dark then.
Because, after we've all seen The Hobbit, Anchorman 2, The Monuments Men, Grudge Match, Jack Ryan, American Hustle, and Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas...what else are we going to see? That's right: 47 Ronin.
