GAMING
bill-swift - February 4, 2014
Well, not literally. Sadly, simply ‘being a dick' isn't a crime. If it were, we'd need huge prison colonies on Mars just to house Kanye West and all those other dumbasses who spout BS and try to sell us shitty and expensive man-scarves.
Ragequitting is rife in gaming, and is the very pinnacle of online douchebaggery. Whatever happened to the honor and chivalry of the knights of yore, who would exchange broadsword swings to the gonads in polite, gentlemanly fashion? You wouldn't catch those bastards pulling out their ethernet cables because they were getting their asses kicked. For several rather obvious reasons.
Still, we aren't fancy-ass English lords in steel codpieces from the year 1300. In the modern day, we need some way of dealing with these shenanigans. Which is where Killer Instinct's ‘jail' system comes in.
It's a similar affair to Grand Theft Auto V's bad sport system, where griefing others would see you banished to lobbies of similar ‘bad sports' (complete with dunce caps) for a certain period. Here, a disconnect ratio of 15% or lower will, as technologytell reports, get you the middle finger of justice:
"While in JAIL, which lasts for 24 hours, you can only fight with other jailbirds. So you'll still be able to play the game, but you'll be playing against the misbehaving side of the fanbase. Go back to JAIL and it'll last two days, and you can have time adding to your sentence for repeat offenses of up to five days at a throw.
Once you're back out among the public, if you disconnect even one match with a percentage above 15%, it's back to JAIL you go. Oh, and any match you disconnect from, you take a loss."
Developer Double Helix isn't effing around. See how 'jail' is capitalized? These guys mean business.
