I consider myself a feminist. I think men and women are equal and that women should earn and be treated the same as any man. What I am not down with is stupid shows of shock value to prove some idiotic point. These usually, when it comes to feminism, have to do with using the vagina to scare people. I guess some men are grossed out and intimidated by the vagina, but not me. I just think being shocking for shock's sake isn't going to get you anywhere except being ridiculed. Take, for example, feminist blogger Zoe Stavri's using a case of thrush in her vagina to make a sourdough starter and baking bread. She took some of the stuff off of a dildo and made some bread. This launched a big debate on Twitter using the hashtag #cuntSourdough with some people supporting her bold use of vaginal yeast and other people being grossed out by it.
I'm a grown up, I am not freaked out by vaginas. I just agree with Dr. Helen Webberley of the Oxford Online Pharmacy when she said,
"While moulds and funguses have been used in cooking for years, we should never consider eating anything that could contain human genetic material. The vagina hosts numerous bacteria and organisms, some of which can be infective. This is clearly a health hazard."
That it's basically cannibalism is what makes it gross.
