The Worst Movie Special Effects Of All Time

It's truly amazing how good movie effects have become. I'm a little spoiled because I first saw the pretty darn good effects of The Empire Strikes Back as my first film when I was three and I expect everything to meet those standards. But sometimes special effects just aren't that special. Sometimes, like in the clips above you can blame it on a low budget. That is certainly the case with Birdemic or any of the SyFy originals. But what about the movies that had big budgets like The Mummy Returns with the horrifically cheesy Dwayne Johnson scorpion or the anorexic Jabba the Hutt in the Special Edition of Star Wars: A New Hope. One of the above clips that took me back was for Jaws: 3D in which the shark busts through the glass at the aquarium. I was a little kid when I saw that movie and I remember thinking that it looked like crap.

And kids love crap, but I knew the filmmakers could do better. Then again, Jaws: 3D is a terrible film. Most of these are terrible films. Like the Peter Jackson King Kong with Jack Black. That was like a kick in the gonads.
