Late last week there was a press screening of the latest DCEU film, Wonder Woman, and the reactions were overwhelmingly positive. Granted the bar is set pretty low as the other three films in the franchise—Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad—are varying degrees of terrible, but it's still good to hear that things are finally heading in the right direction over at DC.
This new clip gives us a taste of what to expect from the action sequences, and it seems like director Patty Jenkins has done a nice job of adding variety to the superhuman encounters Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is going to have. Here she is facing off against Danny Huston's General Erich Ludendorff and making quick work of his henchmen. While this is but one of the film's 141 minutes, it's definitely piqued my interest in discovering what lies in the film's other 140 minutes.
Look, Wonder Woman doesn't have to be earth-shattering or totally groundbreaking to outdo its predecessors, it just has to be coherent and—gasp—fun and it'll be considered a success in my book, and I get the feeling most people feel the same. Fingers crossed that June 2 brings something more than just the best film in the DCEU and we can comfortably call it one of the best comic book movies of the new millennium.
