The WB is moving ahead with it's pilot for Aquaman, based on the Smallville episode which featured a storyline with the character. Newcomer Will Toale has been cast in the title role, but there isn't too much to say about him, because he really is very new. Variety reported the news which is found via AquamanTV.com
"In the search for Aquaman, we saw over 400 people in England, Australia, Canada and several U.S. cities," series co-creator Alfred Gough told Variety. "We saw Will's tape over Christmas, and he was the only guy we took to the network."
"We call him 'the much-maligned Aquaman,' but when we first pitched Smallville, Superman was considered cheesy," Gough said. "In the comic, Aquaman's the lost king of Atlantis, but in our version, he is Arthur Curry, this twentysomething who owns a dive shop."
As long as we get to see Erica Durance in her bikini again, you can be sure that I'll start watching this show, but it's gonna take more to viewers (even this viewer) hooked. Hopefully this one will be more like Smallville, and less like Birds of Prey.
