Brad Pitt's summer blockbuster World War Z opens this week and Paramount is partnering with Regal Entertainment to introduce...are you ready?...brace yourselves....seriously...are you sitting down?
...a freaking MEGA TICKET!
Yeah. Wait, what? What does that mean, other than that marketing departments seem to be getting desperate-r, it means that for $50 (whole American dollars), fans in five U.S. cities will get to see the movie two days earlier than its official release and receive an HD digital copy of the film when it comes out. Mega Ticket holders will also get (brace yourselves again) one small popcorn, a pair of custom RealD 3D glasses and an official limited-edition poster. Woah.
What cities are mega-sizing? Irvine, CA; Houston, TX; San Diego, CA; Atlanta, GA; and Philadelphia, PA. Ken Thewes, chief marking officer for Regal Entertainment Group said of the silliest marketing scheme in recent memory:
The interest and anticipation for Brad Pitt's latest thriller is at a fever pitch and this World War Z mega ticket offers a unique experience for our patrons.
Thanks, Ken, but we're gonna wait an extra day or two. For all those non megamoviegoers, World War Z opens later this week.
