When Star Wars Met Mario Kart

Have you seen Mario Kart lately? Well, probably not, but I have, and it's gone a little batshit around here. The last couple entries have added customisable karts, gliders for air sections of tracks, funky little propeller things for underwater driving… enough already.

Whatever happened to the simple Mario Kart of yore? The days of plain ol' go karts, of swearing and bitching and broken friendships because someone wanged a blue shell up someone else's exhaust pipe an inch from the finish line? Those days are long gone, buddy boy. They're cruising about the tracks in Star Wars spacecraft now. Apparently.

Yes indeed. I've no clue where the idea for a Mario Kart/Star Wars mashup came from, but the internet lives for this inexplicable BS. Come feast your eyes on this little slice of weirdery from Dark Pixel:

Mario in an X-wing, Bowser in a TIE Fighter, everyone shifting into hyperspace at the start of the race… what's not to like? This is probably why the Wii U's done so badly; a lack of Star Kart.
