GAMING

Back in the nineties, video games didn’t eff around. In the early days, story details, controls and such were only given in the manual. If you didn’t read it, you didn’t know what the holy eff you were doing. We’re inundated with in-game tutorials and hand-holding now, but there was none of this way back when.
A little what-the-hell’s-going-on never hurt anyone, but they were damn hard too. Some of my earliest gaming memories involve getting my ass whupped over and over, and loving every moment of it, on my beloved Genesis.
Thing was, games were so deceptive too. It was the cutesy-looking platformers, Disney titles of all things, that gave me the most trouble. Sporting fiendish design worthy of Mega Man, these were some of the best licensed games ever made. Which is why I made a little nostalgic happy-mess in my undercrackers on seeing this news.
Yes indeed. GOG, that online purveyor of the only way to play Ye Olde PC games these days, has a few new arrivals. The SNES versions of The Lion King and The Jungle Book, as well as the Genesis’ legendary Aladdin, are now up for download. $10 each, or $20 for a triple-whammy bundle, is totally worth it.
Retro heads will know the quality we’re talking here. Not to mention the ball-busting difficulty in places.
